so blogs are a strange business. as such, i have a perverse interest in reading through them. some are politico, others a bit more mundane. every so often you come across a gem, one from someone you have no interest in meeting b/c they'd blow your fooken mind. frankly, i pretend i need mine. anyhow, the point i'm making here has to do with THE MOST overused blog/rant-of-any-kind phrase: "...but i digress."
pointing out your digression is a weak ploy to obfuscate the simple fact there isn't much to say. first of all, *digress* is a second tier big word one throws around to look pk'ish. secondly, it creates the false allusion that your mind is so complex and scattered that maintaining focus on the thought at hand is far below your intellectual capabilities; oohhh, wow...look at the subtle nuances that petition for your attention. thirdly, "...but i digress" reads as euphemism for i don't have much to say on this subject so i'll throw in filler. i suppose i'm really one to talk about filler though. i think the last thing i said carrying any substance was five weeks ago, and that was "ouch." i hit my shin on a stairway while i was tying my shoes. it was kind of wet on my landing, and my shoes didn't have much traction. that's one of the more annoying, throbbing sensations one can have, eh. but i digress.
*time out*
i had two people set up a deer stand on each of my shoulders back in undergrad: pk and cpb. one tried to show me the way to satori, the other just growled and drank coke. he gets the guest spot:
Life struck
like a match
A flicker, a whisper,
one wind.
And all you are left with is a wooden box.
So how tall are you?
yeah doods - as i was driving west toward anne arbour last night, i listened to the same jazz.blues program i used to listen to while travelling 60mph south toward a weekend with kylie. i thought it interesting to discern a difference between the two directions, the implicit feeling that a relationship with an end waited to the south of me while *whatever* waited toward the west. i suppose it means something; namely, that once the sun sets in the west, you're either left with street lights or you aren't. it might also mean that toe/leigh/d'oh is a shyte town.

this blog has been temporarily tranformed (read: this post only) into the what to do for beanie's bday blog. the original plan was to go skiiing, but howard dean's campaign has been losing steam, and we should prolly do something more kerry-ish. but sitting around and chatting monotone isn't good enough for my sister. i think we should drop acid and chat monotone, but i doubt i'll find much support. thank god this blog has ones of readers, else the polio crüe might be burdened by its lack of creative afflatus. comments, please.
and my suggestions:
*blog all day
*paintball in sub-zero temp
*come home and blog
*rock climbing (in of doors)
*drink pabst and bowl

a new round of get your war on is up and firing. i might say the best page yet. it kind of reminds me of how shane and i used to high five in the rec after we took turns meating it out, only we discussed what the buddha'd say whilst spotting, how jesus would look in the vanity mirror, and whether or not muhammed would quit going on about how the *swell* scores bitches at the bar.
speaking of shane, i see he's finally gotten in touch with himself and cory.

I'm in.
Don't have much to say other than it sucks to not be able to accept an invitation for a blog, and then be ridiculed for it because someone else dosen't know how to invite others to their blog..."I don't know, I just think it's kind of funny" (for those of you playing at home this is an obscure Pesci quote).
Ha!

Yes, homosexuality is unnatural, but I see countless other species fellating each other. Therefore, blowjobs are good, sodomy is bad. (actually, I like both).

so the weekend afforded me some time to peruse awol's report on the shyte state of our union. other than the typically republican "no taxes...no taxes...no gov't...no taxes...deficit spend to violate your civil rights...no taxes...ok, just enough tax so halliburton turns a profit...no taxes," there's a bunch of weird, scary crap in there. i'm particularly curious about the "sanctity" of marriage:
"A strong America must also value the institution of marriage. I believe we should respect individuals as we take a principled stand for one of the most fundamental, enduring institutions of our civilization. Congress has already taken a stand on this issue by passing the Defense of Marriage Act, signed in 1996 by President Clinton. That statute protects marriage under Federal law as the union of a man and a woman, and declares that one state may not redefine marriage for other states. Activist judges, however, have begun redefining marriage by court order, without regard for the will of the people and their elected representatives. On an issue of such great consequence, the people's voice must be heard. If judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process. Our Nation must defend the sanctity of marriage.
The outcome of this debate is important -- and so is the way we conduct it. The same moral tradition that defines marriage also teaches that each individual has dignity and value in God's sight."
ok, bigot. first of all, learn how to dissemble. i completely understand the whole what's fair isn't always equal thing, but at least try to disguise your prejudice. if everyone truly had "dignity and value in God's sight," as you say, then everyone has a right to marriage. of course, i'm well aware how bases are covered and that this statement's been quantified; it should read: "each individual has dignity and value, but homos have less."
anyhow, this defense of marriage bs irks me for a bunch 'o reasons. first of all, who fooken cares? back in the day i remember media speculation between biological inclination or conscious choice. uhhh...does it matter? if you choose to love another (wo)man, why should anyone make your life difficult b/c of it? i'm especially confounded in light of our uber-conservative government that advocates CHOICE as opposed to government regulation. uhhh...we promote choice when it involves large multi-nationals deciding where to exploit cheap labor, but not when it comes to how you'd like to get your rocks off.
the religious condemnation of homosexuality gets to me too. my argument used to be laid out as follows: if god's really going to burn some dood/chick up for eternity, why should i make their relatively carefree earth years difficult? i mean, if they're going to endure 3rd degree burn while i'm moving from woman to woman, can't they enjoy themselves for the time being? but my thought's evolved since then. basically, i've discovered i have no interest in a god who's made conscious plans to burn more than half of his/her creation.
and one of my favorite arguments against homosexuality has been naturalism. as in, two doods can't make a third, eh. well shit, so can't my infertile neighbor. should he cease all sexual activity? and should i actually verify that he is indeed shooting blanks before i use him as an example? nonetheless, i haven't entered a single sexual encounter intent on reproducing; it's been purely for fun. if there's a fit, then it's legit.
i'm sure i'll be back to edit...

nothing makes me smile more than when i find miss gee has been reading this here blog, especially when she drops the knowledge (see comments section). my only question is: if beanie *thwacks* me, and miss gee *thwacks* her, does that mean i'm cleaning miss gee's bootprint off my face?
i think i'm in love with the distributive property of multiplication...but i prolly got that wrong, too...

Symbiosis is a close ecological relationship between the individuals of two (or more) different species. Sometimes a symbiotic relationship benefits both species, sometimes one species benefits at the other's expense, and in other cases neither species benefits.
Ecologists use a different term for each type of symbiotic relationship:
Mutualism -- both species benefit
Commensalism -- one species benefits, the other is unaffected
Parasitism -- one species benefits, the other is harmed
Competition -- neither species benefits
Neutralism -- both species are unaffected
this is not my own work..

ps.... to all the bloggers out there... I could blog all day!!

i can't recall the three types of relationships regarding the biological world. symbiotic, parasitic, and ???? anyhow, it's recently been thought by my brain that symbiotic (the mutually beneficial one) means the world revolves around myself and you're in full agreement.

'twas brought to my attention by miss gee that my superbowel predic. sucks b/c tom brady plays for newhampshire/vermont. i shall clarify: who fooken cares is directed toward the nfl, which stands for "not for long." coincidentally, n.f.l is how long i plan to think about even *considering* whether or not the commercials are worth the pain of knowing someone's watching the game.
tom brady's pretty fooken sweet, though. i still await news of drew henson being eaten alive by three rats and a possum, all wearing block em hoodies.

most of us have long since realized our christian names are for use only until age 8 or 9. it's then that our friends adopt us into the worlds we will inhabit and rename us accordingly. how can i help that the don wants us to call him the way his parents do? i suppose that explains his continued dillying between the oral and anal stage 'o development. <------ ¡ria!
and searching through the media today, i noticed reknown commentator (employed by fox news and the progressive) cory bogner chimed in with commentary about jacko. hint: pretty funny.

"odds are he'll never walk again."
such a tired, hackneyed, and played out line bad screenwriters use for cheap effect, nothing more than a hollow shibboleth. but how loaded, how piercing and rusted, how disturbingly resonate it becomes when spoken about your friend. i can't adequately explain how i feel, and i can't begin to fathom if anyone close to me had the temerity to pass on. in the meantime, i expect dan to once again run through the sky, guns drawn, moms waiting...

no one could help me remember those cold, hard nights when i ran till i couldn't breathe. i was looking then for faerie dust on the counter, but the bolshevek revolution caught me with my pants down. next summer, i'm asking for a much longer holiday; there's not enough time in my day to turn somersaults AND think about a lukewarm cup of kool-aid. damn bolsheveks.

mlk day is on its way. i suppose it's the time of year when the sentimentalists take their annual reading of "i have a dream," but this speech seems more apropos. i dug out some highlights since it's a bit of investment in time:
Here is the true meaning and value of compassion and nonviolence, when it helps us to see the enemy's point of view, to hear his questions, to know his assessment of ourselves. For from his view we may indeed see the basic weaknesses of our own condition, and if we are mature, we may learn and grow and profit from the wisdom of the brothers who are called the opposition....
...A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. On the one hand we are called to play the Good Samaritan on life's roadside, but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho Road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life's highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring...
...A true revolution of values will lay hand on the world order and say of war, "This way of settling differences is not just." This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation's homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into the veins of peoples normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice, and love. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.
A genuine revolution of values means in the final analysis that our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies...
